The TNA Women's Knockout Championship is a professional wrestling women's world championship owned by the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) promotion. It is primarily contested for in TNA's women's division, though it has been defended against a male competitor. It was introduced on October 14, 2007 at TNA's Bound for Glory pay-per-view (PPV) event under the name "TNA Women's World Championship";[1] it was later renamed "TNA World Knockout's Championship" in 2008. The word "Knockout" in the championship's name alludes to the term TNA Knockout, which TNA uses to refer to its female wrestlers.[2] It is one of two TNA women's championships; the other is the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship.[3] Being a professional wrestling championship, it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. All title changes have occurred at TNA-promoted events; reigns that occurred on TNA's primary television program, Impact Wrestling, usually aired on tape delay and as such are listed with the day the tapings occurred, rather than the air date. The inaugural champion was Gail Kim, who defeated Ms. Brooks, Christy Hemme, Awesome Kong, Roxxi Laveaux, Talia Madison, Shelly Martinez, Jackie Moore, ODB, and Angel Williams in a 10-knockout gauntlet match.[1] Angelina Love and Tara share the record for most reigns, with five. At 210 days, Gail Kim's second reign is the longest in the title's history. Tara's fourth reign holds the record for shortest reign in the title's history at 1 day. Mickie James is the current champion, in her third reign.[3] Overall, there have been 30 reigns shared among 11 wrestlers, with 1 vacancy.
